Simple Pricing Tips for Online Sellers

Good pricing should cover your costs and still make sense to customers. For marketplace sellers, that usually means thinking beyond the supplier price alone.

Know your true cost

Include the supplier product cost, estimated supplier shipping, marketplace commission and any payment or packaging costs you need to cover.

Use markup carefully

A percentage markup is simple, but very low-cost products may still leave little profit. Consider using a minimum profit target or including supplier shipping in the product price where appropriate.

Keep prices clean

Rounding rules, such as prices ending in .99, can make product pages look more consistent. Just make sure the final price still protects your margin.
